What is CDP Choline (Citicoline)?
CDP Choline works in several ways. It is part of cell membranes, so it can repair and repair cell membranes of neurons, it increases the dopamine level in the central nervous system and increases the neurotransmitter Acetylcholine. After CDP Choline is absorbed, it splits into Choline and Cytidine and spreads throughout your body. Cytidine is converted to Uridine, a nucleotide base necessary for making neural cell membranes. Choline is both a precursor to Acetylcholine (a neurotransmitter that is very important for your memory) and a part of healthy cell membranes. CDP Choline is also a good addition to other nootropics. It can enhance the effect of a nootropic and also ensures that side effects such as headaches do not occur or occur to a much lesser extent.

Dose
The best dose of CDP Choline depends on the individual. A daily dose of between 250 and 1000 mg is often mentioned, in one or two doses separated by 8 to 12 hours. CDP Choline is water soluble and is well absorbed after oral intake. If you start using CDP Choline, go for a low dose. If the desired effect is not achieved, you can increase this dose slightly. If you experience side effects, reduce the dose and see if this helps.
Side effects
There are no known serious side effects of CDP Choline, even at high doses. Mild side effects that can occur are stomach and intestinal complaints, headache, insomnia and diarrhoea. Because there has been no research into its use in women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, this group is not recommended to use CDP Choline.
